Learning by distance; Certificate IV Education Support

With distance delivery - you can start this course at any time!

Why should you consider a career in Education Support?

  • Working in Education Support (also known as a Teachers Aide) is great for a parent who wants to be home for their school age children.
  • The number of job openings for Education Aides is growing rapidly. More than 50,000 Teacher's Aides roles are expected in Australia by 2017.
  • Job prospects for the next 5 years are good.
  • The average hourly rate for a Teacher's Aide is $29.10
  • When you study by distance education, you’ll receive the same high quality training that you would expect from face to face delivery.

On a day to day basis, you'll assist teaching staff in preparing teaching materials and with general classroom tasks.

  • assisting children individually to learn social skills

  • assisting with preparing teaching aids, and copying and collating written and printed material

  • providing assistance to small groups of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Maori students

In addition you will learn to  support and understand students with disabilities and additional needs, first aid, working with cultural diversity, and workplace health and safety.

Customised Training currently offers the Certificate III in Education Support and Certificate IV in Education Support qualifications via distance learning.

How it works:

Learning materials are provided by email and you're allocated an experienced and qualified trainer who will guide and support you through your studies.

Throughout your studies you will have regular phone and e-mail contact with your trainer who will provide the additional support you require to complete each unit.

When you submit assessments your trainer will assess them and give you feedback on the standard of your work.

Delivery:

The courses include 17 units delivered over a maximum enrolment period of 12 months. Most of our students complete this course in 9 months.

While everyone learns at a different pace, a good rule of thumb is to dedicate at least one hour per day to your studies (this will be a combination or reading resources and completing assessments).

Practical Placement:

As part of this course, you're required to fill 100 practical placement hours. Placement can be from already working in the industry, or finding your own practical placement arrangements.

Your placement will be in a primary, secondary or specialist school.

Pre-Requisites:

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Costs:

Your course fees will vary based on your eligibility for Skills First Program funding and Learning Resources.
