With 4 workshops  to choose from, there is something for all levels of experience and understanding.

Each 2 hour workshop  is delievered by an ASD training specialist a  cost of $90 per person (plus gst).

Workshop 1: 2 Hours $90 pp (plus gst)

Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1

 

This workshop would suit educators who have little to no knowledge or training in the area of ASD.

During this workshop participants will discuss the history of the Autism Spectrum and be given an overview of the standard guidelines used by clinicians for the diagnosis of different psychological disorders and conditions.

In addition participants will also discover how DSM-5 codes are used to make further distinctions on severity levels and how this translates into the amount of support needed by an individual with ASD.

Topics covered in this workshop include:

  • How did the term ‘autism’ which was first used in 1943 come about?
  • How has knowledge about autism changed?
  • When were the separate diagnostic labels of Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, and Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified PDD-NOS replaced by one umbrella term ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’ and why?
  • The social and communication challenges associated with ASD
  • Restricted interests and repetitive behaviors

 

Workshop 2: 2 Hours $90 pp (plus gst)

Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 2

 

This workshop is a continuation of Workshop 1 ‘Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1’ and would suit participants that have a little knowledge or training in the area, or have attended Workshop 1.

During this workshop participants will be provided with a more in depth look at the DSM-5 Codes, the behaviours associated with each code and the 3 very specific levels of support that define the severity of an individuals ASD.

Topics covered in this workshop include:

  • Social and communication difficulties
  • Restricted interests and repetitive behaviours
  • Sensory differences
  • ASD ‘severity’ levels and the amount of support required for
    individuals on each level

 

Workshop 3: 2 Hours $90 pp (plus gst)

Behaviour Guidance for Children with ASD

 

Sudden emotional outbursts can be one of the most disruptive aspects of autism. New research may however offer those with the condition effective regulation strategies to help them cope.

During this workshop participants will learn:

  • The function of behaviour regulation
  • Strategies for behaviour regulation
  • How to document behaviour regulation
  • How emotional regulation is essential for social, emotional and communication development and the development of relationships for all children and adults.
  • Positive Behaviour Support (The planned, proactive modification and support of social and learning environments in order to increase frequency of appropriate, “pro-social” behaviour

 

Workshop 4: 2 Hours $90 pp (plus gst)

New Developments

 

This workshop is suitable for those with an advanced knowledge of ASD who want to know the latest developments in relation to the Autism Spectrum.

During this workshop items for discussion may include cognitive theories, sensory processing, diagnostics, visuals and social scripts.

 

In-Service Workshops

Amaze and Customised Training are also able to provide in-service training for your
organisation upon request.
